Features & Capabilities

TachyMon provides real-time heart-rate monitoring with configurable thresholds and tactile haptic alerts for significant changes due to POTS, tachycardia, exercise, or other activities. It features a main display showing the current heart rate, moving average, and delta from the recent average, with color-coded severity to indicate alerts. The app also tracks alert events with start time, duration, starting average heart rate, and the min/max heart rate during each event.

Premium features include detailed event charts, sharing and exporting options (including CSV and PDF reports), and the ability to run monitoring sessions on iPhone with or without an Apple Watch by connecting a Bluetooth heart rate sensor. It integrates with Apple Health, supports notes and symptoms for events, and offers historical summaries for alert events over different timeframes. TachyMon is designed to help people with POTS and those needing proactive heart-rate monitoring, while including essential medical disclaimers and data privacy considerations.

User Reviews

TachyMon is valued for precise heart-rate tracking, clear episode timing, and the ability to log symptoms and share data with doctors, which helps POTS/SVT management. Users also like real-time alerts and long-term trend viewing. However, recurring concerns center on the move to paid features (subscription gating), significant Apple Watch battery drain, reliability issues (random session ends, freezes), and health data integration problems that disrupt recording. Overall, it’s a powerful tool when it works, but reviewers call for improvements in stability, balance of free features, and battery efficiency.
Pros
  • Accurate HR data with precise episode timing, useful for diagnosing and tracking POTS/SVT.
  • Helps with pacing and symptoms, and provides numbers/logs to share with doctors.
  • Real-time alerts and watch notifications help prevent overexertion.
  • Long-term trend data and exportable graphs support monitoring and clinician review.
Cons
  • Subscription model gates most features; many users feel core data viewing requires paid plans.
  • Significant Apple Watch battery drain when TachyMon runs.
  • Reliability issues like random session endings, freezes, and occasional crashes.
  • Health data integration can disrupt recording (disabling writes breaks session tracking/ data is logged as workouts).
  • Occasional HR data gaps or inaccuracies when not actively recording a session.

I downloaded this app as a recommendation, once downloaded there is no free version. It shows you what you can get if you sign up for the subscription but that’s it. So disappointing.

I don’t have POTS, but am having tachycardia spells related to another heart condition and this app allows me to document them then record an ECG on my Apple watch. So glad I found this!
