Overview

Features & Capabilities

Bible Memory is a completely free, open-source scripture memorization app for individuals and groups. Five study methods help you memorize faster: flashcards with spaced repetition, first-letter hints, typing, fill-in-the-blank, and images with audio. It works offline and syncs automatically when you’re back online.

With 300+ translations and support for Greek and Hebrew, you can study verses in multiple languages. Group features let churches and families track progress without exposing private scores. No ads, no premium tier—data stays private, and the project code is openly available. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and all your devices.

User Reviews

Reviewers praise Bible Memory for being free, ad-free, and highly effective at helping users memorize scripture through strong tracking, daily practice, and language/translation options. The app's drawbacks are a steep learning curve and a UI that some find cluttered or not intuitive, plus missing features that users frequently request (e.g., importing verses from other sources, easier undo of completed verses). Overall, it’s widely recommended for serious memorization despite initial complexity, supported by responsive developers and ongoing improvements.
Pros
  • Free and ad-free with no purchases
  • Highly effective for memorizing Scripture; great habit-forming tool
  • Robust memorization features: progress tracking (per-day words remembered), daily practice, and built-in review scheduling; ability to import verses and use multiple translations/languages
  • Excellent developer support and ongoing updates
  • Flexible language/translation options; memorize from multiple translations and even other languages (including Greek)
Cons
  • Steep learning curve and cumbersome onboarding; not immediately intuitive
  • UI/UX can feel cluttered or confusing, with many symbols lacking descriptions
  • Missing or waiting features: ability to import from other Bible sources and easier undo/redo of completed verses
Recent reviews
The UI is a bit tricky to navigate when you first get into it, but after a day or two of regular usage, it becomes very easy. Knowing all this, it’s totally worth downloading. It’s completely free with no hidden, bonus, or essential features behind any paywalls and has been very helpful for me in my memorization of scripture. I’ve recommended it to many newer Christians in person, so I figured this would be worth putting on here. If you want to memorize scripture but aren’t sure how to start, use this app.
