User Reviews

Users like Charge Smart MA for tracking charging, rebates, and cost insights, which helps save money. However, repeated login problems, unstable vehicle connections, captcha/setup errors, and misleading update prompts significantly hinder usability.
Pros
  • Tracks charging activity and shows rebates earned, helping users save money.
  • Provides insight into charging costs by applying National Grid rates and time-of-day discounts.
  • Offers a long usage history so users can review energy usage easily.
  • Generally useful for managing off-peak charging and rebates.
Cons
  • Frequent login/authentication failures and repeated login prompts.
  • Unstable connection to the vehicle, with charging sessions dropping and requiring re‑connection.
  • Captcha/setup errors that prevent adding a car or completing the setup.
  • App update prompts that claim an update is needed even when the store shows the latest version.

This app works very well and provides good insight into the actual charging cost, since it knows the actual National Grid rates. I am a bit confused as to why the kWh reported by Charge Smart (this National Grid app) doesn’t ever match the kWh reported by ChargePoint (the charger on my wall that National Grid pulls data from). It’s close, but never the same for a charging session.
