User Reviews

User reviews show potential for the ROUVY Companion as a convenient ride-control and route-preview tool on Apple devices, but widespread reliability and ecosystem gaps limit its usefulness. Recurrent complaints include crashes, Bluetooth connectivity issues on Apple TV, missing core features (favorites, scheduling, filters), weak data integrations (Apple Health removal, sign-in issues, limited third-party support), and limited hardware integration (TrainerRoad/Kickr). Stability and deeper Apple/Health/TrainerRoad integrations are needed to meet user expectations.
Pros
  • Enables hands-free ride control (pause, music, calls) during rides.
  • Allows previewing and saving routes/maps for later use in the game client.
  • UI is visually appealing and some users feel it looks better than Zwift.
  • Offers basic training metrics and recovery information that can be useful during workouts.
  • Serves as a practical companion, enabling ride control and basic data access while using the main app.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and overall instability; the app often doesn’t work.
  • Apple TV Bluetooth limitations create connectivity problems, with no reliable Bluetooth bridge to connect multiple sensors.
  • Missing core features (favorites, calendar scheduling, route filters, viewing history), plus UI gaps like blank tabs.
  • Apple ecosystem issues: Apple ID sign-in removal; no Apple Health integration or password manager support; limited third-party integrations beyond Strava.
  • Limited hardware/data integration: no TrainerRoad integration; no Kickr Ethernet support; incomplete data syncing to Apple Health; heavy reliance on Strava and lack of clubs/chat.

No way to expand the appleTV limitations for Bluetooth connection like Zwift can. Cmon ROUVY it can’t be that hard to implement it

The app still feels like a POC. I don’t get the point of it if everything you’re looking to fetch in terms of data like write information for example results in a redirect to their web portal. Also, I don’t even know why you can’t access your favorites from the Companion app either or schedule a ride with the calendar. The route search is weak too—we really need filters.

3/9/26: Is going to be a deal-killer. If Rouvy is not really serious about supporting hardware, then they just need to come clean. After reading many of these reviews I begin to wonder if users really understand what a companion app should do. It should act as an intermediary to the primary application running on an TV or computer. In the case of TV this is required since, (for some nutty reason),  has chosen to severely limit the number of simultaneous BT connections it can handle. I don't just a connect a trainer, I connect that plus at least 3-4 other devices like a heart rate monitor, and etc. I've got a week of free trial which I'm going to use, but, the companion app needs to be a fully functional, co-productive piece of software, not just another way to look at my meta data. There is not a single mention of this on the Rouvy web site, and it's not included in the votable upgrades, which I find surprising. When you think about the functionality of the companion app, think Zwift. Or don't, and I'll just make sure to tell all of my zwift riding buddies to keep using Zwift, which I will also do. Best of luck.
