Features & Capabilities

The M'Cheyne Plan app helps guide readers through the New Testament and Psalms twice a year, and the Old Testament once. Import your progress by selecting your plan start date.

19th Century Scottish minister, Robert Murray M’Cheyne, (sometimes spelled McCheyne), developed a daily Bible reading plan for readers to work through the New Testament and Psalms twice a year, and the Old Testament once. There are approximately 4 reading selections per day in this plan.

User Reviews

Users praise the app for its simple, clean UI and core usefulness in following the M’Cheyne plan. The most mentioned drawbacks are that progress can reset or be lost, and the date/day rollover can be out of sync with local time. A common wish is to add a 2-year plan option. Overall, the app is seen as easy to use and helpful for tracking readings, despite recurring bugs and feature gaps.
Pros
  • Simple, straightforward, easy-to-use UI for tracking the reading plan.
  • Clean UI that makes it easy to track the plan without reading on the phone.
  • Does exactly what it needs and is simple to use.
  • Helpful for long-time users and a good replacement for printed tracking.
Cons
  • Reading progress resets or loses place, causing you to restart readings.
  • Date/time/day rollover is misaligned with the user’s time zone, leading to incorrect days.
  • Desire for a 2-year plan option (feature request).

I started using this app about 3 years ago and it worked great! In 2025 it stopped holding my reading place and would start over almost every other day! I’ve thrown it out and reloaded it and tried everything that I could try within the app. The problem still hasn’t been fixed. Sadly, there is no REAL way to contact the developer. The website in the App Store leads to a page about the developer with no way to inquire. HELP! I love this app and would like to keep using it without the daily frustration.

Thanks so much for making this! One question, it seems the time zone, for when the date/day changes, may not sync with the users location. I’m on EST time (US east coast) and the day rolls over around 08:00am. Was wondering if there is an easy way to update this to 12:00am user time? Regardless, I really appreciate the app, thanks for helping keep me in the word!!

It’s a simple great app. Only request would be that there is an option for the 2 year version of the plan. That’s how I’m using it now.
