Features & Capabilities

Brand-new app, brand-new powerful editor. We've rebuilt TouchOSC from the ground up for speed, features, and usability. The GPU-powered integrated editor lets you design complex control layouts with precision and supports MIDI, OSC, and more across all platforms.

Cross-network synchronized editing lets multiple TouchOSC instances connect on the network for real-time testing on connected touch-screen devices. A lightweight scripting engine enables deep customization and interactivity, while local messages let you wire controls to transmit or display values for quick tasks. This is just the beginning—more features are coming as TouchOSC evolves.

User Reviews

TouchOSC is praised for deep customization, Lua scripting, stability, strong support, and cross‑platform workflow. Repeated downsides center on a clunky UI, a notable learning curve, and a need for better onboarding materials. Overall, it remains a highly capable tool for custom control surfaces in both studio and live contexts.
Pros
  • Highly customizable control surfaces and layouts for studio and live use.
  • Very stable and reliable in real-world performance.
  • Lua scripting/editor (Mk2) enables powerful customization and advanced templates.
  • Excellent support and an active, helpful user community.
  • Cross-platform compatibility with real-time testing workflow across iOS devices, desktop, and DAWs.
Cons
  • UI/UX can be clunky and navigationally unintuitive.
  • Learning curve and perceived complexity can be a barrier for non-developers.
  • Documentation and onboarding could be improved with more tutorials, videos, and clearer examples.

After many hours of trying bridges for my iPad and on PC frustrated and giving up I put down my iPad and the screen rotated!!! Guess what!? Icons for connecting to my device appeared. Works as advertised at that point. No where did I see that the iPad needs to be in landscape mode. So many hours wasted. I did raise my original review from 1 star, but because of that 3 is the max I can do. The instructions are not clear and just a ton to sift through saying need install bridge, click icons that are not there. Step 1 in instructions and FAQ need to be turn your tablet to landscape mode.

I’ve been using this app for years now. It’s the perfect app for custom control surfaces. I use it for both studio production and live performances and it never fails on me. You can create whatever controls you need easily.
