User Reviews
Pros
- Faithful port of the three OG Game Boy Final Fantasy titles, with authentic branding and feel.
- Great value: all three games in one mobile package at a price considered very reasonable.
- Nostalgia-driven, old-school JRPG charm that satisfies fans and collectors.
- Solid port quality and cross-platform familiarity (e.g., smooth transition from Switch to mobile).
- All three games are presented together in one convenient package, sparing players from hunting for physical copies.
Cons
- No cloud save / cross-device progress support, risking lost progress between devices.
- Touch controls are clunky or lacking, detracting from the classic gameplay.
- RNG appears broken or non-random, leading to repeated battles on reload and inconsistent outcomes.
- Differences from the original Game Boy versions (UI and mechanics) and some features feel confusing (tree navigation, equipment complexity).
- Lack of controller/backbone support; no built-in gamepad compatibility.

If you get stuck in these games, they were produced for the original Nintendo Game Boy in North America, so you should be able to find instruction manuals for them online.
I only had part 2 on Game Boy, so part 1 was a new experience for me. I didn’t play the zombie class, and I had to look up how to develop the humans, which is unusual by Final Fantasy standards. Overall, it’s a fun title, although the way the tree is organized can be a bit confusing.
Part 2 more closely resembles a typical Final Fantasy title, in that humans progress in level simply by battling rather than through potions. This wasn’t an issue in the first game, but I don’t like how variable the mutants’ magic is, given that you can spontaneously develop a weakness for fire, for example. Still, a fun title.
Part 3 does what no other 8 bit or Game Boy Final Fantasy title did. It allows you to jump over npcs when they get in your way! Too bad Square didn’t think of this sooner.
The battle dialogue is very similar to the barely worth mentioning Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, which makes me wonder if they had the same creative staff.
This title more closely resembles a regular Final Fantasy game than the other two in the series, with the caveat that the equipment system is more confusing than any I’ve seen from Square.
The storyline is hard to follow as well, as it begins as a time travel plot then shifts to a world travelling/interdimensional one. I enjoyed the third installment of Legend the least.

I was a young nerdy boy with no friends but I had the OG huge gray gameboy and all I did was play these three games. Idk who decided to do this release, but I can’t describe how grateful I am. ❤️
