Features & Capabilities

Mile-1 is the most comprehensive highway milepost locator built for day or night use. It covers nearly every highway on the U.S. Interstate system, plus state and U.S. highways, and lets you quickly find and share your real-time milepost, even when data connectivity is unavailable.

Features include hands-free access with Siri, tap-to-navigate using Maps, and easy sharing of your location via messages or apps. Mile-1 is designed to support emergency responders and roadside assistance, as well as incident reporting and maintenance, by providing milepost-based references.

User Reviews

Users praise Mile-1 as a game-changing tool for locating interstate mile markers, aiding EMS, police, and dispatch. It works offline in remote areas and has an easy, visually appealing interface with broad iPad/slide-over support. However, multiple reviews report stability issues after updates (crashes or failure to launch), lack of search by place names, missing directional aids (no compass or travel-direction controls), and limited mile-marker granularity (no tenths/hundredths). Some highways aren’t covered yet. Overall, it’s highly useful but improvements in stability, search, and navigation would help.
Pros
  • Extremely useful for locating interstate mile markers, aiding EMS, police, towing, and dispatch.
  • Works offline in remote areas without cell signal.
  • Easy-to-use, visually appealing interface.
  • Cross-device compatibility (including iPad/slide-over).
Cons
  • Stability issues and crashes after updates (won’t launch or white screen).
  • No search by place names; inability to search for landmarks reduces usefulness.
  • Lack of directional aids (no compass and no clear travel-direction controls) and map orientation controls.
  • Limited mile-marker granularity (no tenths/hundredths).

I have been using this app for about a year now working on an ambulance. It works great for interstate calls with mile markers in unfamiliar areas, easily locating the mile marker and having the directions automatically take you there on apple maps.
