User Reviews

User reviews for NX MobileAir are dominated by connectivity and reliability issues, with many reports of Bluetooth pairing failures and cameras not connecting. USB-C/cable compatibility is a frequent pain point, including reliance on discontinued cables and inconsistent iOS support. The app is a paid subscription, and updates have left some users unable to use it. Functionality is limited (RAW transfers not supported; limited file types; no video transfer) and syncing can be slow or unstable unless the app remains open. A few setups work on some Nikon Z-series cameras under specific conditions.
Pros
  • - When it connects, photo transfer can be fast for JPGs.
  • - Works with some Nikon Z-series cameras (e.g., Z8, Z9) using USB-C cables.
  • - Appears usable in RF-noise heavy environments (e.g., sports tournaments).
Cons
  • - Frequent connectivity failures and unreliability; camera often not found or won't connect (Bluetooth pairing issues).
  • - USB-C / cable compatibility problems; only certain cables supported, with some reviewers relying on a discontinued cable; some devices not supported on iOS.
  • - Paid subscription and price; updates can render the app unusable; no warnings.
  • - Limited file support; cannot transfer RAW files (only JPG) and no video transfer; other file-management features are missing on iOS.
  • - Sync speed and workflow drawbacks; syncing slow, requires app to stay open, and connections can drop when minimized.
  • - Settings save/load feature not available on iOS; can't sync settings across cameras as described in docs.

First you need the special anker cable for lightning port iPads and next you need to set the camera usb mode to iPhone. Then it works brilliantly. Just wish you could rate or favorite images on the go via the iPad ( not the camera ). I use with an iPad Air 3 , z30, z6iii and z9

Spent almost an hour trying to connect my brand new Nikon C8 with firmware 2.10 latest version to my iPhone via NX MobileAir followed every troubleshooting step restarted devices multiple times checked all settings. Nothing the app simply will not find or connect to the camera via Bluetooth pairing this should be simple pair device take photos remotely instead it’s an exercise and frustration with zero payoff for a company like Nikon that builds exceptional cameras. It’s embarrassing that their app is this unreliable. Read the reviews. I’m not alone years of complaints and they still haven’t fixed basic connectivity issues my advice skip this app entirely Nikon fix your software stopped to pretending wireless connectivity is a future

Why do I need this and why does it cost anything at all? Have you seen the variety of features in NIC?
