User Reviews

Ryse is highly praised for its thorough tracking and vibrant community, with a user-friendly design and useful AI features. The main drawbacks are the move to a paid subscription and the gating of core capabilities, some users feel the free tier is too limited. Additionally, offline use can be unreliable, especially in areas with poor connectivity. Overall, it’s a strong fitness tracking and social app, but pricing and reliability in offline environments matter for potential users.
Pros
  • Robust workout tracking with logs, volume, PR tracking, and a clear progress/history view.
  • Strong social/community features that boost accountability, motivation, and shared progress.
  • Generous free tier with many features and affordable premium options.
  • User-friendly, intuitive interface that makes logging workouts quick and easy.
  • AI workout generator and other smart tools that help customize daily workouts.
Cons
  • Transition to a subscription model with recurring charges and gating of core features; many users call it money hungry.
  • Free tier limits: you can’t log unlimited workouts or access all features without paying.
  • Offline usability is limited; the app isn’t reliable offline in areas with poor connectivity.

I used to really like this app and I was using it for a while. It actually got me back into the gym. The app lets you see which exercises use which muscle groups and shows examples and how to’s. NOW, today, I go to log my workout just to find out I can’t because it’s now a subscription. JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER APP. A big reason why I liked this app so much was that it was free. Money hungry. Do better.

The app is misleading as it doesn’t allude to the fact that once you sign up you can only record so many workouts before it no longer lets you track anymore

Ryse recently decided to fire a fitness influencer because they called out a man who posted transphobic comments towards the influencer. Ryse is actively defending transphobia and hatred and I won’t support that.
