Let's take touch typing lessons in earnest with an external keyboard. This is the iOS version of the macOS app, which has been acclaimed around the world for many years.

Typist XK is a touch-typing practice software that assumes you are using an external keyboard.

The software keyboard of iOS does not involve the tactile sensation of typing physical keys, so you must always look at your fingertips as you type. In order to input a large amount of characters at high speed, it is necessary to learn touch typing using an external keyboard. If you take it seriously for about two weeks, you will be able to input at surprisingly high speed not only on iOS devices but also on PCs.

Typist XK is the iOS version of the typing practice software on Mac that has been widely used and trusted around the world for many years. Typist also provides practice courses for the Dvorak keyboard and the numeric keypad.

Both iOS version and Mac version of Typist have the same lesson contents. Typists can share information about your progress in selected courses via iCloud. So, for example, you can practice on your Mac and then continue on your iPad.

Typist XK requires iOS 13.4 or later. In addition to the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch can be used as iOS devices, but it will be difficult to practice if the screen is so small. You can use most keyboards that can be connected via Bluetooth. Apple products, such as the Magic Keyboard, Smart Keyboard or Bluetooth keyboards for Mac, work fine.

I'm surprised to see any review that is less than at least 4 stars! This App deserves to be number one for learning touch-typing! It is the absolute best I've ever used. I started learning with the Mac version of this App, and now I see that the iPad version is just as good! You've got to have a hardware keyboard for it to work, this is a no brainer .. I'm not sure if the negative reviews were coming from users of some older versions of this App? Or are they due to some trouble with hardware keyboards? Typist is a very minimalistic App, it gets the job done, with least bloat. This design actually gives me the vibe of an old typing machine, all from the visual elements, the colors, and even the font. All the way to the material of text you practice on, the old writings of letters and famous quotes from ancient historical writings. This is perfect for learning touch-typing, it plays with the imagination of the learner, focusing on the time where typing was a way to live!

This app is garbage.. Do not down load waist of time .

Does not work on current iPad OS 17. Works fine on iphone, but not on ipad, and where the space bar does not register when it is pressed, but nulls the next action, which would be the pressing of the current letter being practiced, and which locks up and takes one out of the moment of practicing. Its like at that moment the space bar had been mapped for something else. Very annoying and frustrating, as practicing typing is easier on the ipad than iphone due to the size. Otherwise, fsntastic learning and practicing tool, and which I have had and used on my Mac for years to brush up on my practice. Needs to be fixed on iPad and then I will give it its deserved full 5 stars.
