I can not get the earbuds to play at the same time. They work as 2 separate headphones sets but I can’t use them for a conversation

These connected to Bluetooth easy, but the app would not recognize the connection, so every time I tried to use the translator it said I was not connected but the Bluetooth said I was. So frustrating
