User Reviews

User reviews repeatedly report major reliability problems with VTrans: translation stops quickly, requires holding the button, and cannot translate continuously; bidirectional translation is inconsistent across languages; connectivity between earbuds and the app is problematic; authentication and subscription issues are common, with little live support. A minority note some success with English–Spanish and Russian translations and decent audio when used as regular headphones. Overall, the app shows potential but is hampered by bugs, poor UX, and inconsistent performance.
Pros
  • Bidirectional translation works for some languages (e.g., English–Spanish and Russian) when setup issues are resolved.
  • The earbuds deliver good sound quality as regular headphones.
Cons
  • Translation stops after a short time and requires holding a button; no continuous translation.
  • Bidirectional translation is unreliable or not supported for many language pairs; results vary and UI is unclear.
  • Frequent connectivity issues between the earbuds and the app, with repeated pairing/reset attempts.
  • Account creation/authorization problems and password/login failures.
  • Subscription/billing confusion and limited or unclear access through Apple; customer support appears lacking.

Unfortunately, it’s terrible! It doesn't translate for even 50 seconds before stopping; you have to keep holding it. I take it to Mass, and it keeps pausing. It really should support continuous translation until *we* press the button to pause it—and without the need to keep holding it in your hands, pointed at your face. Don't buy it.

Simply doesn’t work as advertised. They appear to have been quick to market and the device does not allow you to translate between two languages as you’d expect. I can translate English to Spanish, or Spanish to English, but not back and forth.

I followed instructions to get this device to work but I kept getting an error saying ‘failed to get authorization’ and there are no instructions to resolve it. I created an account, deleted and reinstalled the app, forget the device and reconnected, NOTHING resolves the issue and there is no live support or instructions to fix it. So disappointed!
