User Reviews

The My Starkey app is praised for quick pairing, a clean UI and useful self-check when it works, but is hampered by ongoing connectivity instability, crashes with inaccurate usage data, a non-intuitive interface, and notable feature gaps (Auracast integration, limited EQ/streaming options). Users report improvements after updates and responsive support, though reliability remains a common concern.
Pros
  • Quick/instant initial connection to Starkey hearing aids on iPhone when working.
  • Polished, intuitive interface and ease of use when the app is functioning.
  • Useful self-check feature for hearing aids.
  • Post-update improvements and responsive Starkey support improving connectivity (e.g., better Zoom/Teams compatibility).
  • When functioning, app handles calls/streaming with less friction.
Cons
  • Frequent connectivity and pairing instability: devices disconnect, won’t reconnect, and pairing can fail.
  • App crashes and unreliable data tracking (e.g., 24-hour usage reporting) across updates.
  • UX/UI is difficult to navigate with features buried in menus and little feedback after changes.
  • Feature gaps and limitations: lack of Auracast integration, limited EQ controls, and streaming settings not persisting.

App cannot detect my Oticon hearing aides. I’ve done everything I can…wife on; hearing aides charged..restarted phone..nothing.

While this app may be slightly better than some HA manufacturers offer, it is years behind what is possible on the iPhone with such possibilities as widgets and home screen shortcuts to your custom programs, which would be convenient for anyone using this. It seems like the app is an afterthought, just something barely functional so they can say they offer an iPhone app.
