Features & Capabilities

SSTP Connect is a native iOS VPN client that supports SSTP and SoftEther. It is a standalone client—no VPN service is bundled; you specify the server address. The app uses only iOS native libraries (including TLS), stores credentials in the iOS keychain, and keeps connection logs in memory only.

Key features include privacy-first design (no data collection, no ads, no analytics), IPv6 readiness, NAT-T and UDP acceleration, and easy import/export from SoftEther Client Manager. It supports a wide range of authentication methods (SSTP: PEAP, EAP-TTLS, TEAP, EAP-TLS, EAP-MSCHAPv2, MSCHAPv2, CHAP, PAP; SoftEther: Password, RADIUS/NT Domain Password, Certificate, Anonymous) and stores passwords and certificates in the iOS keychain. This client is based on Microsoft Open Specifications and SoftEther VPN source code, and is designed to be small, simple, and secure.

User Reviews

Users largely value SSTP Connect for enabling SSTP/SoftEther VPN, especially in networks that block IPsec, with easy setup and stable performance in many cases. It’s seen as a niche‑friendly, well‑executed solution that does what it’s supposed to. However, recurring issues include: unreliable auto‑connect and frequent disconnections; compatibility regressions after updates; crashes and inability to edit/add profiles; missing features (RADIUS, TLS SNI, importing self‑signed certificates); and some device/profile stability problems.
Pros
  • Effectively provides SSTP/SoftEther VPN access, including in networks that block IPsec.
  • Easy to set up and configure; simple to get running after initial learning.
  • Stable and reliable performance for many users in typical use cases.
  • Niche-friendly and well-executed solution for users needing SSTP in restricted networks.
Cons
  • Unreliable auto-connect and frequent disconnects.
  • Update/compatibility regressions break connectivity with newer SoftEther versions.
  • App crashes often and users can't edit or add profiles.
  • Missing critical features: no RADIUS support, no TLS SNI, and cannot import self-signed certificates.
  • Device compatibility and profile stability: older devices may fail to connect; occasional profile corruption.
Recent reviews
I support a variety of clients’ Windows environments. And while most of them have the ability to connect via IPSEC, I also travel, so run into plenty of hotel or other wifi that blocks that. So have moved all over to SSTP Connect.

If you’re going to charge me money for a Softether client, try including all features of the Softether client. Does not support RADIUS Authentication, so I can’t even use it.
