User Reviews

Users praise Strive for easy setup, motivating group contests, and responsive support. The main drawbacks are privacy concerns over data sharing and a perceived doxxing risk, iOS-only limitations that hamper Android users, syncing/accuracy issues with devices and health data, and onboarding friction around health data entry and pricing. Overall, strong for team motivation and tracking, but privacy and cross-platform accessibility are recurring negatives.
Pros
  • Easy to set up and use for group/team challenges
  • Highly motivating and engaging with real-time progress and multiple challenge types
  • Great for teams/family competitions with a strong community aspect
  • Excellent customer support with quick issue resolution
  • Solid data tracking and clear progress visualization (leaderboards, progress)
Cons
  • Privacy concerns: premium features allow viewing others' profiles and past steps, plus auto-population of name/location; perceived doxxing and data selling
  • Platform limitations: app is iPhone-only for group contests; limited or no cross-platform support (Android); manual entry not always counted
  • Sync/accuracy issues: steps not matching devices, data not syncing with health apps, occasional bugs
  • Frustrating health data entry: weight/BF% requirements and difficulty editing starting data or calculating estimates
  • Premium pricing/friction: paywalls and upsell feel blocking access to core features; some complaints about spam or marketing emails

I rarely get sketched out or have privacy concerns since there’s basically no such thing as privacy these days. However — the premium function allowing you to view anybody’s profile and see how may steps somebody took on a random day 4 years ago was enough for me and my friends to abandon this app. It’s also very strange and sketchy that when you download the app it automatically populates your first and last name and your location. Basically automatically doxing you. You should be able to opt out of people paying to see your information- no matter how insignificant it may seem. This app is blatantly selling it.

We have been using this app for a staff step challenge, and it has been awesome. The set up for the challenge was easy and the developers have been very responsive to a few requests.
