User Reviews

Reviews largely praise the widget variety and customization, but are overwhelmed by the move to a subscription model that locks previously purchased features, plus migration issues from 1.x to 2.x. Users report widgets being deleted, confusing pricing, data refresh problems, and a degraded UX. The core tension is value vs paywalls after the update, with many calling the change a bait-and-switch and seeking restoration of prior purchases.
Pros
  • Wide range of widgets with extensive customization options (timeframes, layouts) for displaying steps on the home screen.
  • Historically solid value for buyers, with past lifetime licenses and generally useful widgets before the 2.x changes.
  • Widgets provide practical, at-a-glance visibility of daily steps and health data when functioning (high perceived usefulness under prior versions).
Cons
  • Major shift from a one-time or lifetime license to a subscription, with many users feeling grandfathering was not handled and accusing the move of bait-and-switch.
  • Version 2.0 update reportedly deletes or locks existing widgets and makes restoring previously purchased licenses difficult or unreliable.
  • Pricing and Pro-feature visibility are unclear and pushy, with Pro access sometimes requiring a paid unlock (e.g., $15) and features not clearly labeled in advance.
  • Data accuracy and update timing issues persist (steps data lagging by hours, incorrect data, and problems with time zones).
  • Migration/UX changes remove familiar features from the old version and complicate configuration, diminishing the user experience (e.g., missing direct Health app linking, harder setup).

Updating to the new 2.0 version seems to have deleted my existing widgets. When I tried to recreate the medium steps widget, it asked me to pay for a Pro account, something I’d be happy to do once, but I’m not paying $15 to get one steps graph. Appreciate that the widgets are a bit more customizable about timeframes, but I’m not a fan of the new look. I preferred when the graph was bolder and flatter and easier to read at a glance. Sorry, now I need to find a new app.

First of all, when the subscription is being advertised, it doesn’t list all the features it contains which is annoying. This makes you have to guess what you have access to or not, since “Pro” widgets don’t have a label indicating their exclusivity when going through the menus (only when you’re about to create one). So, I think that’s a very much needed feature. Additionally, upon unknowingly choosing a “Pro” widget, noticing it’s not available to you, and pressing the cancel button to go back to the selection menu, it opens the “buy the Pro version” screen which is annoying. This forces you to slide downward to ACTUALLY go back which is not intuitive. Other than that, it’s probably decent, granted you buy the Pro version. There’s plenty of customization and plenty of widgets.

It literally takes 24hrs to update the steps ... i want to see steps for today not yesterday It shows incorrect data and takes hours to update, it accumulates days and doesn't know when you change time zones please fix. I also paid premium lifetime and then you changed it to yearly ??
