Kalpa offers flexible input options, a rich song library with strong visuals, and a rewarding progression system, plus useful QoL features and co-op. However, it suffers from input registration issues, monetization gating and limited mobile story access, along with bugs/translation gaps and uneven difficulty ratings.

Pros

Flexible control options (Thumb vs Multi-Finger) with slide input support.
Strong song library and appealing visuals/character designs.
Rewarding progression system with cosmetics and free premium currency; free songs and optional DLC.
Quality-of-life features and customization (scroll speed, timing offset, mirror, indicators) and multiple judgement modes (including Lunatic).
Co-op mode available and solid overall user interface.

Cons

Input issues: notes often fail to register and thumb hitboxes can be unforgiving.
Monetization/gating: mandatory hurdles, paywalls for harder charts, and some content tied to purchases; mobile story not fully accessible.
Bugs, typos, and translation gaps, plus occasional connectivity issues.
Inaccurate or inconsistent difficulty ratings across songs.

probably my favorite rhythm game out there. first songs are super easy imo even the "super hard" versions but there are other songs. you do need some sort of premium if you want to get really hard versions. you can pick between thumb mode and finger mode which is pretty cool. i also have only played free play bc it's fun lol. i recommend ^^

Overall, a very solid rhythm game. It has co-op, but not many use that feature. Has a decent amount of free songs + progression system that gives you cosmetics/songs. They have characters with skills; and free & premium gacha. You can earn premium currency for free (also used to buy songs). Personally, I wait for sales to buy in bulk. Check their Twitter or discord for that type of stuff. The reason why I took a star off, is bc they have mandatory hurdles for leveling up and I been stuck on one for a year. I have skill issue. I wish they had an item for you to skip hurdles, because they have items to skip daily/weekly quests. Oh well. Lastly my other complaint is that they make acquiring some of the characters impossible (which is annoying) and this game does have a storyline, but only the prologue is available on mobile. Only on the stream version can you read the rest. Which you have to re-buy all the songs/DLC. This game is on its 5th year and they still haven’t added the story to mobile bc apparently they want to finish the story before doing that which… Idk that upsets me bc I do not have the capacity to play on PC and I am not willing to re-spend all that money. They are maintaining this game on mobile, but it’s all about the PC version for them.
