RhythmStar delivers addictive rhythm gameplay with catchy music and appealing visuals, including cute characters, plus deep RPG/gacha elements and multiple modes. The main drawbacks come from its freemium model and progression friction: energy and gem gates, coin-like charges, and chest timers make it easy to feel pressured to spend to advance, and strong heroes can feel out of reach without spending. Players consistently praise the music and visuals while requesting more content and QoL tweaks. Overall, it’s compelling but monetization-heavy for progression.

I love this game. I’ve been playing it since December of 2025, leveling up my characters (Mostly Necke and Didi.) and I just turned Didi into a 5-Star hero…and her sprite is completely AI generated. I was already concerned with one of the opponents in level 222 (The Thieving Magpie Overture) looking extremely AI generated, but this has just confirmed my disappointment. I’m glad I haven’t spent any money on this game because I don’t support the use of AJ one bit. This game is filled with handmade art, and the AI sprites clash so terribly and make me feel like I should play another game instead. Please fix this.
