User Reviews

Users praise Glimpse 2 for its innovative idea and potential as a home-screen widget that can show web content, with easy setup and useful viewport customization. Yet multiple reviews point to reliability problems: the widget often won’t load, disappears after setup, or demands a new URL. Edits and settings frequently don’t stick, and a fixed frame size can crop or misalign pages. Login-protected sites fail to load, and cached content isn’t refreshing reliably. Despite enthusiasm and donations, stability and flexibility need improvement.
Pros
  • Innovative concept for a home-screen widget that can display web content
  • Easy to find, install, and use
  • Viewport customization that lets you choose what part of the page/screen to show
  • Useful across contexts (web development use, time zones, quick checks)
  • Positive sentiment and donor support from users
Cons
  • Reliability issues: widget often fails to load, disappears after setup, or requires a new URL
  • Edits and settings frequently don’t stick (changes don’t persist)
  • Fixed frame size can crop or misalign content; limited or awkward resizing
  • Pages requiring login often fail to load or show cached content
  • Caching leads to stale data and unreliable updates; limited automatic refresh capability

This was going to be so fun to have for the election but it doesn’t work. Great idea and can’t give a low rating for a small developer. Pls fix

Really really unhappy with the performance of this widget. Once I set it up, invariably, within 24 hours, the website literally just disappears and the widget says I have to pick a URL. When it is being set up, the small window size set up does not match up with what I’ve set after I go back and save it. I have to scroll the square window around to some other area to have it actually show what I want on the final home screen. Been playing with this now for more than two weeks on a daily basis. It never works right for longer than a few hours or a day if I could even get it set up to look like what I want onscreen
