User Reviews

KEF Connect shows promise with improvements over older versions and tangible usability when it works, but is plagued by persistent connectivity problems, difficult setup, and firmware-update risks. The app is praised for being intuitive and offering sound tuning, yet users frequently report drops, slow responses, login hurdles, and devices not showing up. Overall sentiment is mixed: reliability and stability are the main drawbacks, while improvements and customization provide some value.
Pros
  • App has improved over the first-generation KEF apps and is generally more functional than competing options.
  • When it works, the app feels intuitive, easy to use, and functional.
  • The app offers sound customization/tuning options for KEF speakers.
  • Supports multiple KEF products and streaming across services.
Cons
  • Frequent disconnects and unreliable connectivity between speakers and the app, with Wi‑Fi dropping and difficulty reconnecting.
  • Cumbersome setup and onboarding, often requiring wired Ethernet or IP-based configuration rather than a simple wireless onboarding.
  • Firmware updates can fail or brick speakers, with reports of resets and lengthy recovery procedures; updates sometimes auto-run without user control.
  • Buggy, slow, and unreliable app performance, including delays, missing devices, login/account friction, and basic UI/UX shortcomings.

Disappointing to have such quality speakers yet such a poor app experience. KEF hire me and let’s fix this <3

I don't know why this gets such poor reviews, it works great for doing the things you need it to do, ie switching between modes and all that. The integration with Deezer and my DLNA server is excellent, better than VLC which I was using. I can add songs to queue from multiple sources, I think that is so cool! And I like to use the app instead of Airplay because it avoids the hiccup while Airplay initializes, missing the first few seconds of the song. Finally fade between songs is seamless. Overall very nice app from a small Audiophile oriented company, very impressed just like I am with the speakers. Thanks!
