User Reviews

User reviews overwhelmingly report that AquaChek Connect's camera-based strip reader is unreliable and inconsistent, with auto-capture failing across multiple iPhone models and updates. They cite missing setup components (grey comparator card, black mark) and persistent detection issues. Readings vary wildly and settings often don’t save. The concept is appealing, but execution is poor, making the app feel unusable for most users.
Pros
  • The app concept promises automated, camera-based readings of test strips.
  • Intended to simplify spa management by providing results and recommended actions.
  • Some reviewers note the underlying test strips' chemistry is acceptable (not blamed for the issues).
Cons
  • Auto-capture/camera reading consistently fails or cannot detect/recognize strips across many devices and iPhone models.
  • Readings are inconsistent or incorrect, and settings (like bromine vs chlorine) do not persist or are misapplied.
  • Missing hardware/labels required by the app (grey comparator card and black mark) and inaccurate setup guidance.
  • Frequent app updates regress functionality or break compatibility (notably for iPhone 12, 15 Pro, 16 Pro/Max).
  • Reliance on external hardware with poor reliability leads to unusable results.

After trying multiple times practicing and twice with a wet test strip, with a perfect line up, it continued to tell me ‘make sure…..’ Waste of time
