Features & Capabilities

RoseConnect Premium makes it easy to use Rose devices on your network from your iPad or iPhone. It automatically searches for Roses on the same network and lets you remotely control basic functions (mute, power, and volume) while streaming from your Rose hardware.

Play music, import podcasts, browse internet radio, and access TIDAL after logging in. The app supports RS-201 and RS-150 devices and offers a simple, centralized way to manage playback and device control from anywhere on your home network. The Rescan option refreshes device discovery when needed.

User Reviews

User reviews largely slam RoseConnect Premium for iOS as unstable and hard to use. Repeated crashes after updates, unreliable device connections, and slow performance are common. UI/UX is criticized as clunky with poor navigation and broken English. Networking quirks (IP/hostname handling) and missing features (e.g., Tidal Connect) compound frustration. A few reviews note the app remains usable for basic playback or as a Roon endpoint, but these positives are outweighed by reliability and usability issues.
Pros
  • App is functional and relatively stable in many cases.
  • Can serve as a workable Roon endpoint.
  • Provides basic playback control for music.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and unusable state after updates on iOS devices.
  • Unreliable connection/dropouts between the app and the Rose device.
  • Poor UI/UX: clunky, dated, hard to navigate, and lacks intuitive playlist/search organization (e.g., no alphabetical sorting).
  • Localization issues: consistently broken English translations within the app (UnActive, awkward phrasing).
  • Missing or faulty features and network problems: no Tidal Connect option reported; search failures; playlist management and network address handling problematic (IP vs hostname).

Update: The playlists you have to make manually of your various box sets (because the Rose does not keep the tracks in numerical playback order) now just stop at random in the middle of playing them. The app is also getting even slower. Nothing is ever fixed by this company—they just add new problems. I wonder if anyone at Rose even reads these reviews. (April 2026) Update: As of Sep. 14, 2025 the volume button no longer functions, the tracks from multi-disc sets are listed incorrectly, and I still have no idea what at least half of the poorly-written English in the app even means. Way too many goofy frills and not enough incredibly basic functionality. And updates fix nothing; They only create new problems. This is embarrassingly bad. I cannot search for artists in the “Music” section since the last update. Terrible app. So bad it makes me question the entire company. Had I known I would never have purchased one of these units. I do not think anyone who built the device or the app has actually used it.

I paid a lot of money for an RS250a. It worked fairly well with a few problems - until I started installing updates. For a long time I’ve had to reload the deck to connect to my system multiple times during each session, only to have it disconnect and instruct me to “change devices”. My “devices” are all fine as far as I can tell. Amazon Prime and AppleTV/music run with no problem and don’t interrupt my listening due to connection issues. The AppleTV box cost about $400 and works fine. After yesterday’s update, my $2400 Rose streamer won’t even power up. I feel like an idiot for buying this.

Since the last two updates, the app has been extremely buggy and impossible to connect to the rose. Plus, the UI is very clunky and dated. Bummer because the device itself is great.
