RainPoint’s hardware timers can work with a three-schedule planner and remote control, but the iOS app is repeatedly unreliable and hard to use. Users report freezes, unresponsive controls, broken status updates, unreliable rain delays, limited automation options, and flaky connectivity with hubs and new devices, plus scarce irrigation history and poor documentation.

Pros

Hardware timers and valves generally function and respond to schedules.
Scheduling planner supports multiple schedules (three) and includes manual control.
Remote on/off control is supported for watering (with valve on/off notifications).

Cons

App reliability: frequent freezes, unresponsive controls, and background status updates failing.
Rain-delay/automation is unreliable or limited (rain still triggers watering; only a few preset plans; weather-based rules are inconsistent).
Connectivity and device discovery problems (hub drops out, adding new devices fails, Deco mesh compatibility issues).
Lack of irrigation history/logs and other UX gaps (no easy way to view recent irrigation, confusing UI, difficulty disabling plans).
Support/English-language/documentation quality concerns (some guidance is hard to understand or unavailable).

Recent reviews

I thought this system would make things easier for me. Adjusting the watering time, frequency and length of time using an app instead of stomping through the flower bed to adjust the timer seemed to be a great feature. The problem I have is that any adjustments I make are ignored by the app including deleting schedules, stopping parts of the schedules and adjusting watering times. It allows me to switch off a specific watering times but when I get out and go back in the button is back on. When I delete a schedule. It asks me if I’m sure and when I hit delete again, a circle appears for a few seconds, goes away and nothing changes. Even if I called someone for support, I know I would never get through to a human being, but if I did I’m sure I would be told that my network is not strong enough or some other excuse. Basically the app does not respond. The only way to change things is to delete the app and start from scratch. Wish there was an update for bugs on the app.

I’ve had several of these and they all spontaneously abort their programming. Sometimes they revert to 30 seconds, another time they just stopped watering altogether. They Do not act on their programming. DO NOT USE THIS
