The Almost Gone is praised for its engaging puzzle-driven story and striking visuals, delivering a dark, immersive experience with a Monument Valley–like aesthetic. Puzzles are well integrated and the game offers solid value for its length. Common drawbacks include progress-saving bugs and instability, frustrating navigation and cramped controls, readable text being too small on some devices, and an ending that feels abrupt or underdeveloped.
Pros
  • Engaging, deep puzzle-and-story experience with a dark, thought-provoking narrative
  • Stunning visuals and audio, with art style reminiscent of Monument Valley
  • Puzzles are satisfying and well integrated with the story; balanced difficulty
  • Good value/length for the price and a strong, immersive atmosphere
Cons
  • Progress saving and general stability issues; game can reset or lose progress
  • Navigation/controls can be frustrating and cramped on larger maps, with small touch targets
  • Small or unreadable text makes it hard to read on some devices
  • Ending can feel abrupt or underdeveloped, with pacing issues

I was able to play it when it was on Netflix, and I'm very happy to be able to play it again. This game is terrifying and comforting at the same time, and even though I struggle with the vagueness of the puzzles at times, the story and atmosphere is compelling enough to make me keep trying. I've replayed a couple times now; the experience keeps calling me back, like coming home. Anyways, highly recommend, there are guides for if/when you get stuck. It's worth it.

In Apartments, Act 3, the apartment on level 2 is supposed to have a door that takes you to a bedroom with a bunk bed. But all I’m seeing is a cemented-over door with no way out. Can’t move forward with the game.
