User Reviews

Reviewers praise controller support, QoL features like Quick Save, and updated visuals/music that preserve nostalgia and suit mobile. The main drawbacks are removal of GBA content, troublesome touch controls, and various bugs that impede progress, plus mixed reactions to the remastered audio. Overall, a well-polished mobile port that excels in accessibility and nostalgia but suffers from content trade-offs, control frustrations, and occasional glitches.
Pros
  • Controller/gamepad support added on iOS, improving playability.
  • Strong quality-of-life improvements (Quick Save) and updated visuals/sounds.
  • High-resolution menus, updated music, and an overall polished remaster that preserves nostalgia.
  • Nostalgia value and mobile-friendly accessibility that brings FF6 to iOS.
Cons
  • GBA content removed (e.g., Dragons' Den) reduces content fans expected.
  • Control issues on touch devices; overall controls are awkward or poorly implemented.
  • Multiple bugs and stability issues that block progression (e.g., character stuck, mogs issues, crashes).
  • Remastered audio changes/sound effects are disliked by some fans, while others appreciate the soundtrack.

I absolutely love this game and I’m glad I can play it on my phone with new (iffy) translation, new effects, and graphical “enhancements”. I couldn’t read the small condensed font at first, but found a better font in settings (still could be bigger like SNES). The color vibrancy is very off putting, as the game was more dark, gritty and realistic on the SNES. Despite these flaws, Final Fantasy VI is still my favorite RPG game of all time, for better or for worse.
