Jellyfin Mobile on iOS shows a clean UI and solid core streaming but is hampered by stability and connectivity issues: frequent freezes, no background playback, difficult server connections, subtitle problems, and flaky downloads. On the plus side, setup is relatively seamless and streaming from the Jellyfin library works when the app is functioning. Overall, it needs robust background playback, reliability improvements, and clearer onboarding.

Recent reviews

Despite being listed as compatible with iPad iOS 12.4 and later, I cannot play videos on my iPad running iOS 15.8.8. It works fine on other devices, but my preferred device is that iPad.

Anyone comparing it to the functionality of PLEX or Emby on iOS are cope maxxing hard. Being open source doesnt mean you get to overlook functionality.
