User Reviews

Warbits Plus is a strong, polished Advance Wars-like strategy game with a robust level editor and solid multiplayer. It delivers great value and retains the charm of the original, along with active community support. However, it struggles with balance issues (notably air units), limited 4-player options, a cluttered UI on some devices, and a sense of limited new content beyond updates. Overall, it's a worthy purchase for strategy fans who enjoy depth and custom maps, despite these recurring drawbacks.
Pros
  • Deep, engaging turn-based strategy that’s easy to learn but hard to master, with varied and challenging battles.
  • Excellent value for money: $5 upfront, no ads or recurring costs, and hours of play.
  • Level creation / custom map editor opens up extensive user-generated content.
  • Strong multiplayer focus with improved online play and an active developer/community presence (Discord, ongoing updates).
  • Polished presentation, modernized visuals, and a convincing Advance Wars-like feel on mobile.
Cons
  • Air power balance is a recurring issue (bombers overly strong, jets perceived as weak) leading to unbalanced battles.
  • Four-player multiplayer options are limited or awkward (can't do certain 3v1 setups, team-pairing options restricted).
  • User interface can feel cluttered and clumsy on smaller screens, with some controls inconvenient or slow to use.
  • Content novelty feels limited: many maps feel like the original Warbits, with a relatively short campaign and fewer new units or mechanics.
  • Occasional performance/technical quirks (battery drain, portrait-mode lag, minor bugs) detract from an otherwise polished experience.

I played endless hours of the first Warbits, like every level, puzzle, and challenge with a 100/100/100. This game is an amazing successor except it feels a little unbalanced now. The bombers are way too powerful and take way less damage from the AA “Gunner” mech than they should. If the computer gets a bomber, you’re essentially screwed because its move range is way more than the Antiair missiles range and trying to back the missiles up with mechs that only do 4 damage is absurd. Then the bomber, with only 6 health still one shots your damn mech! There are some extra powers now that also feel unbalanced and the computer uses them liberally, such as “One Punch” and “Fearless.” They are probably meant to give the player more strategic choices but it just seems like too many now and hamper the experience for me because those are so powerful for only 5 points it’s rarely worth using the higher ones.

first, let me start off by saying I had the classic Warbits and I loved it and I was very sad when issues with game Center led to me being unable to play with my friends. I haven’t explored thoroughly in head-to-head games, but I was playing 1v1 against the computer in a local game and a number of absolutely ridiculous. first, why did you change all of the power ups and the prices of all the vehicles?? that’s not ridiculous, but it used to be perfect. I emptied my carrier, but it still had the little smiley face pop-up on it indicating it had troops inside. all of my troops were wiped out near my enemies headquarters while fog of war was on and I was not immediately unable to see their troops, I could still see them until the end of my turn. The most ridiculous things that happened were the computer brought his carrier to my shore and dropped a troop on top of mine. I thought that was pretty silly, but then later, it did the same thing and dropped one of its troops on a city that I owned it was my city, and I had my guy on that city and then enemy carrier flew over dropped their infantry troop on my city that I was currently occupying and began capturing it… ridiculous stuff
