User Reviews

Halo Collar is widely praised for effective safety, training, and flexible fencing that enables dogs to roam large or irregular properties. The app is user-friendly and supports multiple dogs with helpful features like beep, vibration, and whistle. Notable drawbacks include hardware durability issues (collar/prongs), occasional connectivity and GPS reliability, battery life variability, and ongoing subscription costs with limited access to activity data. Overall, it’s a game changer for many owners, but hardware, reliability, and pricing concerns deserve attention.
Pros
  • Effective containment and training: dogs learn boundaries and stay safe.
  • Flexible fencing: supports multiple fences and large/irregular properties.
  • User-friendly app and easy setup across multiple dogs.
  • Useful training and safety features: beep, vibration, and whistle; adjustable settings for deaf dogs.
  • Cost-effective alternative to physical fencing with strong customer support.
Cons
  • Hardware durability concerns: rivets breaking and prongs falling out.
  • Intermittent connectivity and GPS reliability; not always online or accurate.
  • Short or inconsistent battery life on some models requiring frequent charging.
  • Subscription costs and restricted access to activity reports without higher plans.
  • Support/process friction: AI help center and slow or ineffective replacements in some cases.

Paid $450 for a dog collar that randomly shocks my dog when she’s inside the boundary. I understand it’s a gps collar so the boundary may vary a couple feet from time to time but it should not shock my dog when she’s inside the boundary or even worse inside my house. Garbage

I love it. I can relax knowing that my dog will stay in the fence, however I do wish it wouldn’t pause when she’s close to a building. I don’t want it to pause at all. I wish it did connect faster to the collar but honestly I think that’s more my service. I don’t think my boyfriend has the same problem as me for that.

Have had Halo for a number of years. The collars are getting better as far as durability and quality. I still have frequent issues with connecting to it when I want to change the mode. The app doesn’t allow one to create overlapping fences. I understand only one of those fences can be active at a time, but would be useful on large properties where I want my dogs closer at certain times of the day.
