Users like the fresh UI and the live energy flow view, but repeatedly report unreliable server connections, missing or wrong data after updates, and limited core features (cost data, per-string data, exports, alerts). The Sunny Portal transition and UI changes have caused data visibility and login issues for many. Overall, core monitoring is appreciated when available, but reliability and feature gaps are the main negatives.

Pros

Visually appealing, fresh UI design.

App responds to solar system events and provides data when available.

Cons

Unreliable connectivity: the app frequently cannot connect to SMA servers, with server error messages.
Data and graphs become unreliable after updates: history is lost, current production values are incorrect, and graphs don’t refresh.
Limited features: lack of energy cost display, per-string data, data export, and configurable alerts/notifications.
UI overhaul issues since Sunny Portal transition: users report not seeing data or old data after changes and ongoing sync/login problems.
Occasional login/authentication problems with the mobile app, sometimes requiring password resets or website access.

Improving…but need to improve faster including giving owners ability to get notifications when grid outage occurs, owners to easily re-establish connection to home’s WiFi, and to buy upgrades-accessories. Also let us get an annual ‘health check’…
