User Reviews

Viticulture on iOS is a faithful, visually appealing digital port of the board game, especially with expansions like Tuscany. Players appreciate the convenience of playing anywhere and the strategic depth, aided by adjustable AI and updates. However, many reviews cite a clunky UI, frequent bugs and crashes, inconsistent AI behavior, and online multiplayer issues such as missed notifications and long turns. Developers have been addressing these issues with updates, but broader polish and smoother turns remain common requests.
Pros
  • Faithful adaptation of the Viticulture board game, including Tuscany expansion content.
  • Convenient portable play, no setup required.
  • Beautiful visuals and music.
  • Deep gameplay with varied AI options and adjustable AI speed.
  • Regular updates that improve features and performance (e.g., fast-forward).
Cons
  • Clunky, inconsistent UI/UX that makes navigation frustrating.
  • Frequent bugs and crashes, with stability issues and occasional data loss.
  • AI performance can be slow or unpredictable, leading to long turns.
  • Online multiplayer reliability problems, including missed notifications and hangs.
  • Long game sessions with non-simultaneous turns that slow play.

Initially was frustrated with this app, but it has gotten much better. Really love it with the expansion. Only wish the AI was smarter so I didn’t always win

If you are making a game and at some point the app crashes or times out and your game is not auto saved- why are you making games man?! I feel like every digidice title I try: A) terrible UI. No way it was blind tested and they can’t even follow conventions. It’s literally a UX law- make it like other apps so I don’t have to think. You can’t even make a proper CTA (hint: it’s not a custom icon that’s green instead of white). Please just take a UX course or do some UX law flashcards. B) Buggy. I get bugs happen but you can’t have people invest 30-60 minutes in a game and then they never get to finish it. It completely devalues everything your team has done. I feel like Digidice almost nails it everyone except these two problems. And they pick the best games to develop so I keep hoping they learned.

Love the original boardgame, and this digital adaptation is impressive and fun. I’m really enjoying being able to play a game anywhere and without having to set up all the pieces. I’m really glad to see the Tuscany expansion implemented too, and the music is nice.
