Olive Young used to be fantastic. The Global site has a wider selection and tons of unique products. I was initially so excited when they were starting a US store. Unfortunately, US customers can no longer shop the global site. I’m sure this is fine for people who don’t know any better but for anyone who shopped K beauty well before this, the US version feel almost scammy and purely profit driven rather than skin care/beauty driven.
What do I mean? Olive Young US is essentially a re-branded Sephora. There’s nothing unique about it, there are not the exclusive Korean products, and worst of all, we can no longer get authentic Korean sunscreen from them. In fairness, that isn’t entirely their fault in the sense that the USFDA doesn’t have the wide array of recognised sunscreen ingredients Korea does so they reformulated some things for the US market, but that’s also a slap in the face to loyal customers. Why can we no longer shop your global site? This is a joke.
Even worse, the prices are utterly ridiculous compared to what they were. This site is definitely targeting the worst type of American consumerism. Do yourself a favour and use direct Korean sites. Olive Young was great while it lasted, but for a US audience, just consider it dead.
