Its park finder helps you discover 1,000+ park sites nationwide, with filters for activities, cultural significance, and historical periods, and you can earn park badges in a digital passport as you visit.

Since 2019, ParkPassport has expanded through partnerships with NOAA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Missouri State Parks. Features include offline access, fishing information with new badges, thousands of digital resources (virtual tours, Junior Ranger content, live webcams), accessibility details, photo sharing, and information about free National Park Service passes—empowering responsible outdoor exploration.

User Reviews

ParkPassport is praised for its park discovery, graphical logging, and badge-based motivation, plus a visually rich interface. However, reviewers repeatedly report reliability issues: maps and search are buggy, navigation design is confusing, login and password reset problems are common, and many parks are missing from the database or cannot be manually added. Crashes during check-ins and a lack of editing, photo uploads, and advanced filters further hinder use. Addressing these could unlock the app’s full potential.
Pros
  • Graphical, easy-to-log park visits with badges
  • Park finder helps discover local and state/national parks near you
  • Visually appealing UI with rich park information
  • Badges provide motivation for families and groups to visit more parks
  • Consolidated list of parks in one place
Cons
  • Clunky, unreliable maps with mislocated parks and poor search by name
  • Frequent registration/login problems and password resets
  • Incomplete park database with missing parks and no easy way to add or manually check in
  • Crashes when recording visits or checking in
  • Limited editing, photo uploads, and filtering features

Nice enough app, but there doesn’t seem to be an easy way to just look at a map of state and national parks and sites. The filter option groups local and state parks together, which leads to an overwhelming jumble of options instead of a manageable checklist. Even the map is so covered with local parks that it’s hard to find the state park symbols. If that were addressed and there was checklists of state and national parks and sites, it would be fantastic.

My wife and I love to camp in our national Parks & Forests. We once had the paper passport, but there were occasions when we forget to stamp and others when we simply forgot the book. This app makes it so easy and graphically fun to log one’s visits to our greatest natural resources! Not only that, the customer service is fantastic! I was having issues, totally user fault, and Ivan was quick to respond and very helpful in explaining my mistakes!
