Features & Capabilities

Welcome to the new IPSDI Exposure Tracker.

Developed by the International Public Safety Data Institute (IPSDI), a leading research and training organization dedicated to advancing public safety through data science, this app provides firefighters with powerful tools to track their individual exposures and keep a record of them should they ever need it.

Exposure Tracker delivers a simplified, modern experience, focusing on the exposure itself. Not every incident results in an exposure, and exposures don’t just occur during emergency calls.

If you were an NFORS Career Diary user, thank you for being an early adopter. If you are new to exposure tracking, thank you for taking the step to pre-plan for yourself, and document your exposures.

User Reviews

Users applaud the improved experience and the app's ability to log fire exposures in detail, noting it could be highly useful for the fire service. However, multiple reviews highlight significant barriers to use: difficulty registering or logging in, mandatory department affiliation to log data, stability and reliability problems, and device/UI compatibility issues on iPhone devices. Overall, the app shows promise but requires fixes in onboarding, authentication, reliability, and iPhone compatibility to reach broad adoption.
Pros
  • Improved experience and usability after recent updates and the new app
  • Ability to log each incident with detailed exposure data
  • Makes it possible to collect a wide range of pertinent information and maintain a thorough exposure log
  • Strong potential utility for the fire service in tracking exposures
Cons
  • Repeated login/registration problems that prevent using the app (cannot register or sign in)
  • Department or district affiliation gating prevents data entry and requires signup before use
  • Stability issues including crashes and broken performance
  • Device compatibility and UI problems on iPhone (iOS/iPhone 14 notch and Safari setup limitations)
