It communicates with the physical remote to access a cloud-based IR code database for TVs, soundbars, DVD players, and more. You can search by device brand or type or learn codes directly from original remotes.

Customize your experience by assigning unique keys and creating macro sequences, so one button can trigger a complex activity. The extension supports both IR and Bluetooth remote protocols and requires a Bluetooth Smart capable phone for operation.

Users like SofaBaton for consolidating remotes, learning codes, quick setup once you grasp Activities, and advanced customization (IP-based automations) with broad device support. However, frequent bugs, unstable hub connectivity, a steep learning curve, missing essential features (dark mode, iPad app, widget, export/import), and inconsistent documentation heavily detract from the experience.

I don’t know why this app has such horrible reviews. I’ve had the X1S for months and never set it up because the reviews were so bad. I got some time off between jobs and the setup was flawless. It literally took me about fifteen minutes from plugging it in to getting it synced with my Sony receiver and Blu-ray, AppleTV 4K, LG OLED, and XBox Series X…and getting activities setup for each different device. The AppleTV took a bit of editing the settings for power on/off, but it works great. Don’t let the negative reviews affect your bias. The remote is great and the setup is a breeze. I really love that you can completely edit the individual functions that are displayed when you select the device itself. Very happy with the remote and the software.
