Features & Capabilities

The One For All Setup app configures devices on the One For All Smart Control (URC 7980) via Bluetooth Low Energy, tapping into Universal Electronics' infrared code database—7,000+ brands and 335,000+ models. You can set up devices by model search, function search, or directly by code, with automatic setup on the remote.

A Remote Finder helps locate a missing remote by triggering a beep. Powered by QuickSet Cloud from Universal Electronics, the app requires a Bluetooth Smart capable phone and aims to ensure compatibility with current and future home entertainment gear. For more information, see quicksetcloud.com.

User Reviews

User reviews are largely negative about One For All Setup. The main issues are app crashes, persistent connectivity problems, and frequent unpairing that disrupt setup. Users also report vague instructions, missing features (like model-entry keyboards), and limited device compatibility. A minority praise the remote’s potential, noting quick pairings and the benefit of replacing multiple remotes, plus a remote finder. Overall, the app’s instability and limited functionality diminish the remote’s usefulness for many users.
Pros
  • Replaces multiple remotes with a single device, simplifying control for some users.
  • When it connects, the pairing/setup can be fast and intuitive for those who get a working session.
  • The app includes a remote finder feature to help locate the remote.
  • The remote can control several devices (e.g., TVs, cable boxes) in some setups, reducing clutter.
  • Some users find the physical remote easy to use and effective when it works.
Cons
  • App stability issues: frequent crashes and the need to restart the app.
  • Constant pairing/unpairing: the remote frequently disconnects or unpairs, disrupting setup.
  • Poor UX and missing features in the app: vague instructions, inability to enter device model numbers, and keyboard not appearing.
  • Compatibility problems: inadequate support for popular devices (Apple TV, Roku, Samsung/Sony devices) and limited device coverage.
  • Incomplete functionality: macros not programmable and overall app/remote experience feeling buggy or unreliable.

Garbage app that can’t even get BLE to work. Who creates this junk and why do they have jobs?

This app keeps unpairing with the remote. I get part way through programming a new device and a screen pops up telling to pair with the remote, which I did before starting the programming. In fact I’ve programmed one of my devices with no problem. Ugh.
