Features & Capabilities

TrailView is designed for off-road enthusiasts, whether you ride an ATV, UTV, dirt bike, or a 4x4. Using GPS technology on your smartphone or tablet, TrailView records your tracks and lets you follow them back to where you came from. You can also mark and label waypoints such as camp, parking, or favorite spots to wheel.

TrailView offers detailed maps of different trail systems, riding parks, state and national forest trails, or just fun spots to wheel, available as in-app purchases. Maps are color-coded to show difficulty and highlight key waypoints like trailheads, camps, and scenic viewpoints. Each map works offline once downloaded, so you can navigate in the backcountry where there's no cell service.

User Reviews

TrailView is praised for accurate, broad trail maps, ease of use, strong support, and good value with frequent updates. However, users repeatedly note data gaps and inaccuracies on some maps, occasional freezes, and user interface issues like map rotation/tilt without an anchor and display distortion. Overall, strong maps and responsive support outweigh the drawbacks for many riders, but map data quality and stability are common pain points.
Pros
  • Accurate, broad trail maps that help you navigate and not get lost.
  • Excellent, responsive customer support with quick fixes and map updates.
  • Maps and the app are easy to use on iPhone and Android, great for planning rides.
  • Good value for money; per-map pricing is reasonable and updates add new trails.
  • Frequent map updates and new trail additions keep maps current.
Cons
  • Data gaps and inaccuracies on several maps (missing trails, wrong paths, incorrect colors/difficulty).
  • Frequent freezes/crashes and the need to close/reload the app.
  • Map orientation/tilt issues and lack of a fixed anchor, causing the map to rotate while you ride.
  • Display distortion when rotating (landscape/tilt) that can persist across orientations.

While I have used this app several times so far on the trails it has been flawless. I was curious about updates for the maps. How often do you update and if we are riding on a trail not on the map how do we upload it to you?

Wish I had this earlier, it will keep us from getting lost out there. When you been riding all day and find yourself low on fuel it’s nice to know where you came from. Tracking will be nice. Could you partner with DCNR PA state riding trails? Could you seek out Snow Shoe Rail Trail? Would be nice to get these trail systems on this format. This app will be useful in so many ways.
