Overview

Features & Capabilities

iArtbook is a fun painting and animation studio for Chrome. It features unlimited animation frames, multiple layers, and masks, along with professional-level line smoothing powered by calligraphy tools like Line Delay, Rope Stabilization, and Correction. Any brush can become a smudge brush, and textured brushes (>1000 textures) enable rich, realistic strokes.

With Dry, Glossy, and three Wet brush types, a large brush library, two color pickers, a gradient mixer, and full Apple Pencil support (including Touch Force, Tilt, and Predicted Points), iArtbook delivers a versatile drawing workflow. Time-lapse recording is enabled by default, and you can export animations to MP4, HEVC, GIF, or APNG, import/export brushes and palettes, and learn by copying professional art through lesson modes. It also offers flexible interface options, left/right-handed layouts, and comprehensive layer and transform tools.

User Reviews

User feedback centers on a shift from a capable, beginner-friendly art app to a paywalled service. Many praise its brushes and ease of use before monetization and note an ad-supported option existed. But repeated complaints warn that essential tools and exporting/saving are now behind Pro, the monetization model is perceived as greedy, and prices for basic features are high. Overall sentiment is frustration, with some lingering praise for the initial drawing experience.
Pros
  • Good brushes and beginner-friendly drawing experience.
  • Ad-supported free access to many tools used to exist.
  • Originally had a robust free feature set and was well-regarded as a free art app.
  • Premium unlocks a cleaner, ad-free experience and expanded features.
Cons
  • Core tools and features are locked behind Pro paywalls.
  • Export/save, copy/paste, and other basics require payment.
  • Monetization shift is seen as greedy and degrades value.
  • Free experience degraded after updates; many useful tools disappeared from free tier.
  • High prices for essential tools (e.g., export or bucket tool) are repeatedly criticized.

When I would make a animation and then I would delete a sketch layer it would always start glitching and say recreating caches then my app would crash and I would keep trying to at least watch the animation and it would say the same thing. Plz fix that glitch. and why is it that you need to pay money in order to DOWNLOAD YOUR OWN ART at least let us download our own art to use. but anyway I love iartbook and iArtbook is the one I use the most so it’s honestly better than most digital paint apps in many ways but yeah anyway amazing art app but plz let us download our art for free and plz fix the glitch 👍 thanks (P.S STOP BEING GREEDY OR YOU WILL LOSE USERS)

Hey… So, you know how sometimes you go to duplicate an image and then accidentally press delete because you’re only half paying attention due to the high of having created something fresh from your brain? Yeah? Maybe… just maybe—hear me out—you could add a fourth little button at the top of the screen that says “deleted works”. That would be greeeaaat…. UPDATE: This review was originally 4-star, but I have developed a complaint upon my return to this application. It used to be free — I have no complaint of that - I understand the need of money to further develop a project - what I don't condone, however, is the fact that I now have to pay a subscription ($12.99, mind you) in order to TAKE MY OWN PRE-EXISTING ART WORKS and save them in a JPEG or PNG format. I would understand if you had Pro pay for the Artbook format, but no, I can't even move my artwork from this program in order to save it to a flash drive. So... iArtbook developers, if you could assist with that, that would be wonderful. 😊 Pleeaase. ☺️
