User Reviews

Reviews are predominantly negative. Recurrent issues include login loops and verification blocks after updates, unreliable code generation with tight timing, and ineffective customer support. Users also complain about no backup/transfer for codes, multi-account management problems, and overall complexity that makes it hard for seniors. A few note past functionality before updates, but the common sentiment is that the app hinders access to government services rather than easing it.
Pros
  • Some users report it worked well prior to the problematic update.
  • The app is intended to serve as an authenticator for government services (as reflected in reviews referencing IRS/SSA).
  • It generates time-based one-time passcodes for MFA.
Cons
  • Login loops and repeated sign-in prompts that lock users out of apps.
  • Code generator failures and very short 60-second code windows causing failed authentications.
  • Poor or unhelpful customer support with in-app only options and automated responses.
  • No backup or easy transfer of codes between devices, making recovery after device loss difficult.
  • High usability complexity and accessibility issues, including difficulty for older users and confusing flow.

It never occurred to the dev team that people get new phones. On competently designed authentication apps, there’s an easy method: on the old device, you tap export. On the new device, you tap import. One of the devices generates a QR code that you point the other device at, then boom. Everything's transferred. This concept never occurred to this s dev team, apparently never encountered competently-designed authentication apps. Instead, you have to go to a desktop platform, which the instructions hopefully omit.
