Features & Capabilities

Simpl - a Simulated Patient Monitor where you can practice medical simulation training anywhere.

This app allows you to simulate a patient's vital signs on your tablet or phone without using expensive manniquins.

Connect two or more devices together to run a simulation scenario. Use one device to control the vital signs and the other device as a monitor.

Great learning tool for use in resuscitation scenarios and courses such as the Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Advanced Trauma and Life Support (ATLS) courses.

There's no need to be on the same Wi-Fi network, devices can be connected together as long as both are connected to the internet. Each simulated scenario you create generates a unique device code so that you can connect multiple devices to join the simulation.

User Reviews

Simpl Patient Monitor is praised for realistic vital signs, alarms, and affordability, with strong educational value and easy multi-device setup. However, recurring issues include crashes during simulations and premium pricing frustrations, plus feature requests for enhancements like 12-lead printing and a larger BP display. Overall a cost-effective teaching tool with room for stability and UX improvements.
Pros
  • Realistic vitals monitoring with adjustable rhythms, alarms, pacing, and defibrillation that enhances simulation fidelity.
  • Very good value for education: affordable compared with high-end monitors while still feature-rich.
  • Excellent for teaching and training across nursing, EMS, paramedics, and simulation labs.
  • Effortless multi-device setup and remote control of vitals across devices.
  • Visuals and behavior mimic real monitoring equipment, providing a believable student experience.
Cons
  • Stability issues: frequent crashes or force closes when hosting simulations; devices can freeze or reboot.
  • Pricing concerns: premium upgrade is expensive and some users report paying twice or it being pay-to-play.
  • Requests for additional features and improvements (e.g., 12-lead ECG printing, larger BP display, tutorials) indicating gaps.

I was really excited to use this app for scenarios. I paid 9.99 for the premium version and it never upgraded. It wants me to pay another $10? So disappointed.

How do you even start the thing, there’s a bunch of numbers and buttons and none of them do anything

This is a wonderful app I am not complaining at all and much cheaper than others. This would be the perfect app and I do mean perfect if it had a couple of extra features. The main one being the ability to do a 12 lead and print it on the screen with the rhythm on tracing paper for students to identify. With that in mind having the ability to pick which STEMI or have multiple STEMI configurations at once would be a game changer. The last feature would be to have a screen that looked more like a zoll, lifespak, or Phillips monitor. It would just add a bit more realistic feel for students.
