User Reviews

Amplenote is praised for its all-in-one workflow that unifies notes, tasks, and calendar, plus strong task management with cross-note views and prioritization. Users value its calendar integrations, two-way sync, and cross-platform reliability. The platform is also favored for its developer responsiveness, plugins, and emphasis on data ownership. However, repeated critiques center on a challenging UI/UX and learning curve, with some reviewers calling the design unattractive and hard to navigate across devices. Overall, it’s powerful for GTD-style workflows if you can tolerate the interface.
Pros
  • Integrated notes, tasks, and calendar in one workflow (Jots to notes to tasks to calendar)
  • Robust task management with cross-note views, prioritization, and dependencies; urgent tasks float to the top
  • Excellent calendar integration with two-way sync and calendar-based planning
  • Cross-platform syncing with reliable performance and ongoing development
  • Supportive company culture with plugins, responsive feedback, and strong data ownership/value
Cons
  • UI/UX is poorly designed and hard to use across platforms, with inconsistent navigation on iOS and Android

I use Amplenote to capture information and share it with my desktop, laptop, iPad, and phone. I’m very happy with this app!

The integrated 'Idea Execution Funnel' is a genius move, but there's no support for using Amplenote with *agentic* AI—i.e., your own desktop agent that can already help with your email, calendar, files, etc. That effectively makes the user an attention-&-calculation *slave* to the content—having to manually micromanage everything is extremely mentally taxing and time-consuming. Providing an interface (e.g. via API, CLI, or MCP) for agents that already live on your desktop and can already touch most of your tools would totally solve this huge gap in usefulness, but so far Amplenote's devs have shown no interest or commitment in supporting this pivotal advancement! Highly **counterproductive**.

The Amplenote system is not quite like anything else out there. It is not infinitely customizable and instead implements an opinionated model of one way to balance high-level goals with day-to-day implementation. The system may not be for you! (I’m not 100% sure it is for me.) Nonetheless, the app is a solid implementation and deserves its rating.
