User Reviews

Users praise Light | Long Exposure for effective light-trail results and a slick interface, with classroom value. However, issues are common: it isn’t a true long exposure (it stacks images), onboarding is weak, iPad support is lacking, front-camera is unavailable, and saving/exporting can fail. The app fills a niche other apps don’t, but onboarding and cross-device support remain key drawbacks.
Pros
  • Great for light trails and star trails; provides a long-exposure-like effect without external gear.
  • Slick, clean interface with easy-to-use controls.
  • Useful in photography classes / educational use.
  • Back camera works well for capturing these effects.
Cons
  • Not a true long exposure; relies on stacking images, which can be misleading compared to real sensor-based long exposure.
  • Lacks built-in guidance or tutorials; no clear walkthroughs or labeled controls, and few modes.
  • iPad compatibility promised years ago but not delivered; not optimized for iPad or tablet use.
  • Front-facing camera support is missing; users want this feature in updates.
  • Saving/exporting results can fail (can't save to the app / share outputs) and some core interactions (like snapping) can be unusable at times.

The app hasn’t been updated in years, and the interface feels very dated. There’s no guidance and the layout isn’t intuitive. I’ve used free apps that work better. Unfortunately, it just isn’t worth the dollar.

This app is advertised as a “long exposure camera”, which is false. It mimics a long exposure camera by taking a large quantity of photos and layering them over each other, thus mimicking a long exposure effect. It does not let the sensor take in more light as an actual long exposure would. This app will still work for the effects advertised, it just isn’t a legitimate long exposure. They got me in the description though by saying “long exposure effect”, instead of long exposure, so I can’t be too critical lol.
