User Reviews

The AWNET iOS app shows a clear pattern of frustration: many users experience a finicky setup process, frequent crashes, and inconsistent connections. A few succeed, especially when following specific steps or in non‑iOS contexts, and the weather station can be added and monitored if the setup completes. However, repeated reports of 2.4 GHz requirements, cellular data tweaks, device disappearance from lists, and limited or slow support dominate the reviews. Overall, reliability on iOS is broadly poor with sporadic successful use.
Pros
  • When setup succeeds, the AWNET app lets you add and monitor the Ambient Weather station in the app.
  • Some users report easy Wi‑Fi setup and a successful connection on iOS.
  • In working cases, the weather station shows up in the device list and can be controlled via the app.
  • A minority of reviews report no problems and smooth operation when it works.
  • The app does provide device management and visibility for connected weather stations when the setup completes successfully.
Cons
  • Extremely unreliable setup on iOS, with hours of attempts and inconsistent results across users.
  • Frequent crashes during setup or while using the app, sometimes breaking connectivity entirely.
  • Requires convoluted, non‑intuitive Wi‑Fi workarounds (must use 2.4 GHz, disable 5 GHz, disable private Wi‑Fi address, disable auto‑join, and even turn off cellular data) to get things to connect.
  • Devices often fail to appear in the device list or lose connection after initially connecting, making long repairs necessary.
  • Poor or unhelpful customer support, plus a sense that Ambient Weather does not have full control over the app; reports of outdated guidance, lack of versioning, and compatibility issues after updates.

It is not. Having the devices listed is a matter of sheer luck. Do better!

Had a very hard time setting this up thru the app, took around 2 hours but I got it to work after tons of trials and errors.

After trying about 1000 times, I finally connected to Wi-Fi. I disabled my 5 GHz network. Using an iPhone. I went to settings, tapped wifi, tapped the i on my 2.4 GHz, scrolled down, and turned off private wifi address. Then, I followed the set-up instructions on this app. Finally, success!
