Features & Capabilities

KORG iMono/Poly brings back the iconic 1981 Mono/Poly as a fully featured iPad/iPhone app. It faithfully reproduces four VCOs, a dedicated VCF envelope, and classic cross-modulation, delivering the dense, distinctive sound that made the original famous. The app also adds modern enhancements like two multi‑effect units and eight virtual patches to expand your sonic palette.

Navigation is designed for quick access: switch between the main synth and patch/effects screens with a single tap. When used with KORG Gadget, iMono/Poly appears as the Montpellier gadget, enabling integrated music production workflows. Note that iOS device compatibility is recommended (iPad Air / iPhone 5s or later) to ensure smooth performance. The result is a faithful, today‑ready reincarnation of a legendary instrument for creative sound design and music production.

User Reviews

Users widely praise iMono/Poly for its rich, high-quality sounds and solid standalone performance, with Gadget fans noting good integration. However, the largest repeated gripe is the absence of AUv3 support, limiting use with hosts and multi-instance setups. Other frequent concerns include keyboard/UI limitations (no full-sized keyboard, scale-mode issues), relatively low output volume, and several requested features that haven’t shipped yet (undo/redo, portamento, enhancements to arpeggiation). A few reviews also touch on licensing frustrations around cross-platform use.
Pros
  • Excellent, high-quality sound with versatile, rich tones.
  • Intuitive UI and solid workflow for sound design.
  • Strong standalone performance and reliable for live use; good Gadget integration.
  • Good compatibility with mobile DAWs and overall iOS ecosystem.
Cons
  • Lack of AUv3 support; no AU plugin, limiting host integration and multi‑instance use.
  • Keyboard and UI limitations (missing full-size keyboard, scale mode issues, layout problems on larger devices).
  • Relatively low output volume compared with other synths.
  • Missing advanced workflow features and patch-management options (undo/redo, portamento, enhanced arpeggiator, patch transfer/storage).
  • Cross‑platform licensing/frustrations related to accessing desktop features and cross‑device use.

When is AUv3 being implemented in this and your other apps?
by Ca*****, 2026-04-08

It's 2025 and the app still doesn't support Auv3 and I can't use it with grooveboxes and hosts. GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK!!!
