User Reviews

Marquee TV offers a strong, diverse catalog of performing arts with high-quality productions and a helpful trial period. However, users repeatedly report critical flaws: unreliable subtitles, casting and audio routing problems, complicated cancellation/billing, stability issues, and a small, inconsistently updated library. Overall, the content is appealing to arts enthusiasts, but reliability and usability problems significantly affect the user experience.
Pros
  • Strong, diverse catalog of performing arts (opera, ballet, theatre, dance) delivering rich cultural content.
  • High-quality, engaging productions with visually appealing presentation.
  • 14-day free trial available to evaluate the service before subscribing.
  • Overall positive reception from arts enthusiasts who value the content selection and range.
Cons
  • Subtitles/captions are frequently unreliable: sometimes don’t appear, are unreadable, or cannot be adjusted; captions may also be misaligned.
  • Casting to TV and audio routing (AirPlay/TV casting) is problematic or inconsistent across devices.
  • Subscription management is confusing: difficulty canceling, auto-renew charges, and billing issues reported by users.
  • App stability and performance issues: freezes, not loading, and repeated login requirements.
  • Small catalog with slow content updates and uneven production quality compared to competitors.

I signed up for this service and paid for the first month through Apple. I was unable to login, and when I complained to the app developers, they said they had no record that I had subscribed or paid. They are so incompetent that they can’t even sync up with Apple on Subscriptions. Before you pay these losers, look carefully at what they’re offering. They actually offer very little in any given category. This is a smorgasbord of a few classical performances, a few opera performances, a few drama performances, and some ballet thrown in for good measure. Oh yes, they even offer Shakespeare. But in each category, they actually offer very little. If you’re interest in opera, you should instead subscribe to the Metropolitan opera service or Medici TV. If you’re interested is classical music, subscribe to the digital concert hall of the Berlin Philharmonic and Medici TV. Both are far superior to this elementary school operation that is so bogus that after you pay for it, they don’t even know that you have done so

This app is worse than useless. I rarely submit reviews, But this is so BAD, I just had to chime in. If I try to watch normally, subtitles won’t appear. When I trick it into playing a different way, I’ll get subtitles, BUT THE VIDEO DISPLAYS AND PLAYS SIDEWAYS!! Not joking. I’ve NEVER sen anything like it. I’ve tried uninstalling/reinstalling, but still doesn’t work. I’m very disappointed. I just paid for a year’s subscription, and not able to watch on any of my macOS devices. Oh, and clicking ANY button works maybe 5% of the time. Seriously.
