User Reviews

Beorg is highly praised for deep Org-mode integration, powerful calendar/agenda features, and strong cross-device syncing, along with solid customization and ongoing development. The main drawbacks mentioned across reviews are a steep learning curve and occasional reliability concerns around unsaved data when switching apps. Overall, it’s a leading Org-mode on iOS solution, especially for users willing to invest time to learn and adapt.
Pros
  • Deep org-mode integration and high customization, with support for custom schemes and workflows.
  • Excellent calendar and agenda capabilities, including calendar syncing with iCloud/Google and Outlook event integration into the Org agenda.
  • Strong cross-device syncing and reliable synchronization across Mac, iOS, and Linux with solid conflict resolution.
  • Ability to replace Notes/Reminders and support journaling and rapid capture templates for mobile use.
  • Active development and responsive support, with regular updates and a growing feature set.
Cons
  • Steep learning curve to master the org-mode workflow and Beorg's advanced features.
  • Risk of data loss when switching apps or not saving changes (unsaved text can be lost; no automatic in-app save), affecting reliability for some users.

Great if you’re an org mode nerd. Protip: Use Dropbox to sync everything from your PC and your phone. Makes this easier.

I’ve been playing with Emacs for 45 years, Org for 6 or 7, and Beorg for at least 5. I am still just a beginner, but I can see greatness in having a set of tools that easily collaborate with each other via plain text to organize all (and I mean all) aspects of my frazzled life in a way that my non-computer wife could understand. Beorg has been solid in the basics of this and I hope to see more come along (hint: basic photo/PDF mgmt). Thanks
