User Reviews

Users overwhelmingly report Dog ID as unreliable, with frequent misidentifications, especially for mixed breeds. Results vary by angle or photo and often default to generic labels like 'puppy' or 'white dog' rather than a breed. Mislabeling of specific breeds (e.g., mixes, doodles, or certain purebreds) is common. Several reviewers also cite poor value for a paid app, noting very low accuracy (around 10% in some cases). A few rare correct identifications exist but are not representative.
Pros
Cons
  • Inaccurate breed identifications reported across many photos and dogs.
  • Results are inconsistent, varying with angles or different photos of the same dog.
  • Frequent mislabeling of mixed breeds and doodles as other breeds.
  • Often returns generic labels like 'puppy' or 'white dog' instead of a specific breed.
  • Paid app with low perceived value; some reviews claim accuracy around 10% or less.

Can’t identify a dog. But it said my dog was a dog bed. He was in the back yard.

Uploaded photos of both of our doodles. One is half Irish Setter and half Standard Poodle. It said he was half Terrier. I met both parents. There is no terrier in him. Same with our Bernedoodle. Thought she was poodle/terrier. Nope.

Tried this with a pic of my dog several times and everytime it was wrong. Never suggested what type of dog it actually was.
