User Reviews

DogDNA is mostly criticized for inaccuracy and inconsistency, with frequent mislabels and results that change across photos. Many reviews warn about hidden charges and paywalls, and some cite technical/UX issues. A minority find it entertaining or conceptually interesting, but most users do not trust it as a real DNA test and view it as a fun, low-stakes appearance check rather than a reliable breed identification tool.
Pros
  • Fun and entertaining to see breed guesses for your dog
  • Interesting concept with potential plausible breed possibilities when photos are clear
  • Not a real DNA test; sets expectation that it’s a look-based app rather than genetic analysis
  • Occasional plausible results when the photo is high quality
  • Lightweight and easy to try, with some users noting free access at times
Cons
  • Widely inaccurate breed identifications across many dogs
  • Results vary greatly with different photos of the same dog and can be inconsistent
  • Paywalls and hidden charges; many users feel it’s not worth paying for
  • Technical/UX issues and basic ML limitations; occasional crashes or poor performance
  • Perceived as unreliable or a waste of time/money by many reviewers

I bought this app once, but won’t restore purchase and wants me to buy again. Not impressed and NOT buying it again. It’s not worth it!

I have a wheaten terrier, and he is nowhere close to looking like a Pomeranian this app has no accuracy or detail why pay for something that’s probably not even going to be correct and I also do not recommend this for mixed breeds. You will get a bunch of information that will absolutely not make any sense honestly, if I was one of the devs, I will take this now because this is just a piece of garbage and a waste of time and also a waste of money if you want to bite us app.
