User Reviews

Users generally find Fishing Points valuable for fishing thanks to depth data, map-tracking, and tide/current details, and view it as a budget-friendly alternative to pricier apps. It’s noted as easy to use and versatile for various fishing contexts. However, recurring issues include GPS inaccuracies, unreliable depth data after updates, confusing upgrade/pricing and layer purchases, misidentified or incomplete lake data, and slow customer support, which detracts from reliability.
Pros
  • Depth data and lake structure help locate fish
  • Map-based location tracking with tide and current data
  • Reasonably priced and considered a good value compared with Garmin/Navionics
  • Easy to use / straightforward interface
  • Useful across different fishing contexts (ice fishing, kayak, saltwater)
Cons
  • GPS/location accuracy is inconsistent or unreliable
  • Depth/bathymetry data can be off or missing after updates
  • Upgrade/layer pricing can be confusing and may require ongoing purchases/subscriptions
  • Some lakes are misidentified or not accurately mapped, indicating data coverage gaps
  • Customer support is slow or unresponsive

I chose this app over navionics because I do not like subscriptions. And what a mistake. I wanted this because it said it would show my location, I like to follow the old underground river in a favorite lake, but no matter what I set my location Services to, it always shows me about. A quarter mile away, not even on the lake at all. And the second major issue and this is a major one, despite paying the full price and now says I’m using the light version and no matter what I do. The restore button doesn’t do anything, but the purchase maps sure does work. I’ve restarted my device deleted and reinstall the app. It doesn’t matter so now it went from useless to the light version of useless.. For what they charge they could do a whole lot better.

The only problem I have is that the lake maps are not very defined.
