User Reviews

Overall, Apple users report YouTube TV as unstable and overpriced. The most recurring issues are ads that interrupt even paid subscriptions and recordings; unreliable playback controls (resume, fast-forward/rewind, and sporadic switching to live); rising subscription costs and questionable value, including additional 4K charges; missing or restricted channels (loss of ABC/CBS and limited national sports access) and geolocation barriers; and frequent buffering with poor video quality (blurry images on iPad, slow switching, and inconsistent HD/4K delivery). A few note cancellation and login problems.
Pros
Cons
  • Ads are excessive, including ads in paid subscriptions and on recorded programs.
  • Playback/controls are unreliable: resume from last watched often fails; fast-forward/rewind can get stuck or behave unpredictably; sometimes playback switches to live instead of resuming.
  • High price and price increases reduce perceived value, including additional 4K pricing concerns.
  • Channel lineup issues and location-based restrictions: missing popular channels (e.g., ABC/CBS) and inability to watch nationally broadcast sports in some regions.
  • Buffering and poor video quality: frequent buffering for sports, blurry video on iPad, and inconsistent HD/4K delivery.

We primarily got YouTube tv to watch local channels, but it constantly updates us to the wrong market. Right now, my account shows three different locations: a city across the country that I visited a couple of months ago is active again after I changed it back, the current playback area is a metro area 100 miles away, and my home area shows correct but is not active, even though I’m in my living room. We’ve had to call multiple times because the instructions for updating the area manually don’t work. This is a hassle.

Expensive but a nice selection of channels and great DVR features. But why just three stars? Because the mobile apps don’t have a one-tap mute feature. Want to silence those commercials? Grope for your device’s volume buttons. Why, it’s as if Google makes money selling ads that they want you to hear. Oh wait…
